Spring Events 2014

Spring is here!


The first day of Spring was March 20th.

Spring Holidays include Nowruz (Iranian New Year), Passover, Easter,
Earth Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Memorial Day.

Spring is about growth and new beginnings - like Adult Education!
                                                                      

Here is a list of what's happening at San Mateo Adult School this Spring:

1.  Tuesday, March 25th, 7 to 8 pm:  CSM people will talk about college to evening students.

2.  Wednesday, March 26th, daytime:  WASC will visit out school.

      WASC is the Western Accreditation of Schools and Colleges.
       This is the system for making sure schools are doing a good job.
         A WASC team will visit our school.  They want to know.  Are we doing a good job?
           Please wear Red on this day to show your support for Adult Education!



3.  Spring Break. 

       School is CLOSED the week of March March 29 to April 6. 
         The first day back is Monday, April 7.

             Study ESL online over the break at usalearns.org or englishspeak.com.
               You can also watch many lessons about ESL and pronunciation on youtube.

4.  Thursday, April 10th, 9:30 - 10:30  CSM will talk about college to day students.

5.   Saturday, April 12th, 8:30 - 12 noon:  San Mateo Downtown Clean-up and Beautification

        All classes will come together and work with the community to make downtown San Mateo
         cleaner and more beautiful.  After, we will eat a free bar-be-que together and enjoy music.

6.  Wednesday, April 16th:  Field Trip to CSM for both day and evening ESL students. (high level)


7.  Thursday, April 24th in the evening and Friday April 25th in the daytime

          Last day of the semester Earth Day Clean-up and Barbeque

8.  Monday, April 28:  PLC Day for Teachers - NO CLASSES

        Teachers will meet to discuss how to improve their teaching.

9.  Tuesday, April 29:  First day of ESL classes for Summer Semester

10.  Sometime in May:  Governor Brown's May Revise.

         This will be a new version of his budget proposal.  Will there be news about Adult Ed?

11.  Monday, May 26th:  Memorial Day.  SCHOOL CLOSED
