Spring Semester 2015

San Mateo Adult School

Spring 2015!


We have many wonderful classes to help you grow your English, job, and citizenships skills.

You can find a list of all the classes here.

Here are some highlights from the Spring 2015 schedule:

1.   SMAS Reads

This is a new class.   SMAS Reads will help you improve your English Reading skills.

At the first class meeting, on Monday, January 12, at 12:30 in Room 21, students  will take a test.  The test results will decide if students are in Level 1 or Level 2.




2.  Afternoon Schedule for ESL classes on the Main Poplar Campus

3.  Finding a Job - for ESL Students


Teacher Carolyn Lee and Teacher Jay Finklestein
will help learn about resumes, interviews and where to find jobs
Learn great job hunting skills that can help you find a job - or a better job - with this class that is especially for ESL students.  The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3:30 in Room 27.  There are two 7-week sessions.  The first session begins January 13th.  On Wednesdays, there is an open session from 12:30 to 3:30 in room 27.  Anyone is welcome to drop in on Wednesdays for help or advice on finding a job. 




4.  Home Care Aide Training

Students in the Home Care Aide Training Class
ESL students at High Intermediate or above are welcome in this class.   Students learn how to provide non-medical home care to seniors and adults with disabilities.  The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3:30 in Room 45.  The registration deadline is January 20th.  The class begins Thursday, January 22nd.






5.  Adult School Gardening Class

Mondays from 12:30 to 3 pm, you can learn about gardening, conservation, water, and nutrition with the gardening class.  This class will help you grow food and English skills!



6.  ESL Computer Lab

If you are a registered student, you can use the ESL Computer Lab from 12 to 1 pm, Monday through Friday, in Room 24.  This is a great chance to improve your English and tech skills.  Teacher Tia will help you find the right programs to help you grow your skills.

Registration is open:

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm in the morning

Monday and Tuesday from 6:15 to 8:15 pm in the evening
