Safety Alert

It is always good to be safe.

Now we need to be extra safe.

Here is an important message.  You can ask your teacher to help you understand the English.

You can also use the translation button on the left.  I also added some notes to help you.

NOVEMBER 15, 2014:  It seems an arrest has been made.  But the advice here is always true:
If you see things that are suspicious, tell school staff and the police.

November 14, 2014 Hello to SMHS and Adult School Students, Families and Staff:

This is an important message regarding school safety in the area of San Mateo High School and the Adult School. Please read the complete message.

This is an important message about our school and the area around it.

As we shared yesterday, the San Mateo Police Department is investigating two incidents involving young female students who have reported incidents of suspicious behavior by adult male(s) in the area of San Mateo High School. The Police have confirmed a third incident of a similar description last night at 6pm in the area of the Adult School.  Again, we commend all three women for reporting this incident, as that is the first step in ensuring safety.

The police are getting more information about 3 things that happened.  2 things happened near the San Mateo High School.  1 thing happened by the Adult School.

The Police are investigating all three incidents and will report to the community the confirmed facts of their investigation. However, in the meantime, PD wants our help in communicating with you the importance of reporting any suspicious behavior immediately.

The police want you to call IMMEDIATELY if you see anything.  To solve this problem, they need information.  Please do not wait to tell them something.  Call 911 if you see something suspicious.

Reporting it immediately helps the police locate the person in question. Delayed reports hinder Police’s ability to solve the issues at hand.

We need to give the information when we see things.  Waiting to give the information makes everything more difficult.

If you encounter any suspicious behavior, please call 911 and always tell a teacher, administrator or school staff person of the incident so there is no delay in the collaboration between police investigators and school staff.

If you see any problems, call 911.

We can keep each other safe.  We can keep our community safe.   We are three schools together - San Mateo Adult School, San Mateo High School, and College Park Elementary School.  We can work together to keep our community safe.
