This is Part 2 in a series explaining the new Regional Consortia system for Adult Education.

Adult Education in California has a new system.  The new system will begin in the summer of 2015.

In the new system, schools will work in teams to deliver Adult Education in 70 regions around the state.

Each team is called a Regional Consortium.

The ACCEL Regional Consortium

San Mateo County
Our Regional Consortium is called ACCEL

Our region is the county of San Mateo.

Our team has K12 Adult School members and Community College members.

Our ACCEL team has a Big job to do.

We must

* Find out what each team member does now
* Find out what San Mateo County needs
* Decide the best way to help San Mateo County with Adult Education
* Decide what each team member will do in the future
* Create smooth connections between every team member
* Create smooth connections from the schools to jobs and colleges
* Follow new rules -- some of the rules for Adult Education have changed

Our ACCEL team has a Steering Committee.

The ACCEL Steering Committee has members from every school on the team.

Each part - North, South, Mid, Coast - has a CATS team - a Collaborative Action Team.

Collaborative = work together with good relationship

The CATS teams must think about their part of the county and what it needs.  They must review information and find ways to work together to deliver Adult Education the best way possible.

Everyone on all the teams must go to many meetings.

Here is the calendar for ACCEL meetings.

They must also get information from the community, teachers, and students.

It is a big and very important job.

This new system will deliver Adult Education to San Mateo County for many, many years.

We need to be sure the new system is good. We need to think carefully.  We need to make a big effort.  We need to do our best. We need to be smart, patient, respectful, and cooperative.  We need to communicate. We need to think and speak clearly.  We need to listen to what others say and then think about it.

And then we need to bring it all together to create a great new kind of Adult Education system for San Mateo County.

Thank you, ACCELL Team Leaders, for doing this big job!
