Wednesday, April 17th, is Leg Day for CCAE and CAEAA.
Leg Day is a special day to visit the State Legislature in Sacramento.
CCAE is California Council for Adult Education. This is a group for everyone who cares about Adult Education - students, teachers, administrators, community members.
SMAS Director Larry Teshara "Mr. T." |
On Leg Day, Tim and some ESL students will visit legislators in our state capitol, Sacramento.
They will tell the legislators that Adult Education Matters!
Keep the K12 schools open!
We need designated funding - our own money - to rebuild our programs!
They will deliver the plates.

Thank you to everyone who signed.
The petition is still going. You can still sign it.
Please sign it and share it with your friends.

SMAS Teachers at the CCAE Conference in Berkeley in February 2013 |
At the conference, we will share ideas about how to teach better.
We will also share ideas about how to save and rebuild Adult Education.
This is not the first time we have gone to Sacramento
Teacher Katherine and SMAS students stand up for education in 2012. |
For almost five years, Adult Schools have struggled.
Many schools have been cut. Many schools have been closed.
But together the people of California worked to pass Prop. 30.
CCAE President Chris Nelson stands up for Adult Education and Prop 30 |
We raised taxes to pay for public education.
The economy is stronger and we have special tax money just for education.
People understand Adult Education matters.
People understand these cuts are terrible.
People understand that that when an Adult School closes, there is great pain for the community.
Together, we are standing and speaking up for Adult Education.
Now is the time.
Now is the best time for us speak.
We ask the California State Legislature to hear our message:
Adult Education matters!
Keep the K12 Adult Schools!
Obtain Designated Funding!
Rebuild Adult Education!
Sacramento, here we come!
