This month, teachers and students are talking about Internet safety.
What does that mean?
The Internet is a wonderful thing. We can use to find information about almost anything, to buy almost anything, to communicate with other people, to play games, apply for jobs, create things - and more!
It is also a great place for stealing and lieing.
It is a place where other people can check to see if you lie or steal or do good things or bad things.
Nowadays, many times when you apply for a job, the employer will look up your name on Google or some other search engine.
Who are you? Are you the person you say you are? Have you done bad things? Good things? Crazy things?
Try searching for yourself on Google or another search engine. Type in your name like this, "My Name." Put quotation marks around your name.
If you have a name that is very common like Mary Jones or Jose Gonzalez, try putting in "Mary Jones" and then the city you live in. Like this: "Mary Jones" San Mateo. Or "Jose Gonzalez" Burlingame.
What comes up when you search for yourself on the Internet? Do you like what you find?
