Save Your School - Save Your Future

As you know, things have been difficult for our school - and all schools in California - for several years now.

All schools are affected by the budget cuts: K-12 (elementary, middle, and high schools), community colleges (such as CSM and City College in San Francisco), the state university system (including San Francisco State University), the UC system (UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, UCLA, etc.), and especially, all adult schools.

Some adult schools had to close. Others were cut a lot. Some were cut less. We are very lucky. We are still here. We are still going. We are part of a wonderful school district. They have supported us. They did not have to. They could have closed our school. They did not. We are grateful.

In the next few weeks, people all over California will come together to speak up for education and tell the state government that we value education. We must find a way to pay for it. We must find a way keep it strong. We need education for strong families, strong communities, and a strong economy.

Here's what happening at our school and how you can participate:

Monday February 27th - Teach-in for night students. Teachers will help students understand what is happening with the budget and schools.

Tuesday February 28th - Teach-in for night students.

Wednesday February 29th - Banner-making for both day and night students.

Thursday March 1 - Morning rally in front of the school and at nearby intersections
Thursday March 1 - 4 to 6 pm - Rally in San Francisco for Education

There will be many events at many schools on Thursday March 1.

Monday March 5 - March in Sacramento for Education.

This fight to save our schools has been going on for a while.

Here are two clips of two other events where we stood up to save our school and education:

Please understand these cuts are very serious. It is very important, if you value this school and value education for the state of California, that you take some kind of action.

You can join in the events at school or write a letter to the state legislature.

But if you value education, if you do not want more cuts for this school, schools for children, the state university system, the UC system (which becomes more and more expensive every year), and community colleges, you must do something.

This is your school.

Wherever you were born, this is your community.

The children that you see around you, they are your future - the people who will take care of things - or not - in the future... the people who will take care of you - or not - when you are old.

If you want to stop more cuts, you must speak up.
