New Registration Rules for

English as a Second Language Classes
at San Mateo Adult School

·        If you are a new student, you must make an appointment to register. 

·        New student = anyone who was not here the immediate previous semester.

·        Call 650-558-2100 or visit the SMART Center to make an appointment. 

·        If you are a continuing student – if you are in school Fall 2015, you can register in class at the beginning of the new semester.

·        Registration is a 2-day process and will include assessment & orientation.

·        Each day of the 2-day process is 2 hours.

·        Morning appointments are 9:30 – 11:30 am

·        Evening appointments are 6:30 – 8:30 pm

·        Be on time.  If you arrive late, you must make a new appointment.

·        Walk-in’s available only if there is space.  Make an appointment to be safe.

·        Registration is a group process. 

·        Each appointment is for 30 students.

·        First available appointments are

o   January 4/5   

o   January 6/7

o   January 11/12

o   January 13/14

·        First appointments are already almost full.  Call now for an appointment!

·        After that, appointments will be once or twice a week, depending on the number of students.  Call 650 – 558 – 2100 for more information.

·        Help will be available to complete forms.  Some forms will be translated.

·        Registration will take place in the SMART Center

      ESL, Citizenship, Distance Learning, Home Care Aide Training, and Modern Office Technology are free!  They are funded by the Adult Education Block Grant.  Job Search for ESL Students is also free.  It is funded by a grant from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
