Learner to Earner: Ehsan Alahdad

As San Mateo Adult School Students gain knowledge, skills, and confidence, they join the work force, advance in their jobs, and engage in volunteer work.  The Learner to Earner page on the San Mateo Adult School website is about their success.  Here's another story in the series.

Ehsan Alahdad came to this country in 2014 having been a network Technical Manager, responsible for supporting 250 banking branches in his native country. Possessing a bachelor's degree in computer science and having worked 8 years in the field he is a highly trained individual.  Ehsan is an extremely personable individual who realized his English skills needed improvement and that's why he came to San Mateo Adult School. As he also wanted to improve his job seeking skills he took the Passport to Employment class where he learned strategies to become employed in the United States.

As volunteering is so important and so highly respected here in the United States, he interviewed to be an assistant in our adult school's computer IT team.  There he proved himself a great asset and with the help of his volunteer supervisor, he received direction regarding additional computer skills to acquire.

He now has a job working as an IT technician for SF Local Market.  He is responsible for installing and maintaining software, understanding problems and finding solutions.

His hard work, patience, willingness to help others and learn new skills has paid off.  Congratulations, Ehsan!
