From Learner to Earner: Sally Xie

As San Mateo Adult School Students gain knowledge, skills, and confidence, they join the work force, advance in their jobs, and engage in volunteer work.  The Learner to Earner page is about their success. Each week or so, another success story is feature.  Here's the fifth story in the series.

Four years ago, Sally was a full-time student at San Mateo Adult School and had just come from China. In China, Sally had a very successful career as a hotel manager and came to the school to prepare herself for English and employment. After attending a job fair with the Passport to Employment class, she got an interview at Walgreens pharmacy. Now, she is an assistant manager at the same store she started out, loving her job and working with a customer service team at her branch.
