Do you use the school website?
There is a new page on the site: From Learner to Earner.
Every week on the From Learner to Earner page, a student work success story will be shared.
Here is the story about Gina Vannini, success story for the first week:
As San Mateo Adult School Students gain knowledge, skills, and confidence, they join the work force, advance in their jobs, and engage in volunteer work. Here on the Learner to Earner page, we will feature a weekly San Mateo Adult School student success story.
Week 1 – May 11 – 17, 2015 Gina Vannini
Who better to feature this week than our own Gina Vannini. Attending ESL classes to improve her communication skills, this former Vice Consulate at the San Francisco Guatemalan Consulate has clocked extensive volunteer hours at San Mateo Adult Shool. Gina has not only taken the Passport to Employment class, she has greatly assisted instructors Carolyn Lee and Jay Finkelstein. Gina’s always an advocate for the Adult School and has counseled so many students who really look to her for advice. Her volunteer hours at the registration desk led to part time employment doing the work she adores as an English Learner Specialist substitute. As Gina says, “I love to help people. It gives me great joy.”
— Jay Finkelstein, Passport to Employment Teacher
