Why?
We wear Red for Adult Ed to carry the message that Adult Education and Adult Schools Matter.
Since 2009, almost 100 Adult Schools closed. All of them were cut.
You can read more about the history of this situation and how we have worked together to overcome it in these blog posts.

The Governor and the Legislature listened. The situation is much, much better. Many Legislators understand why Adult Schools matter. They support Adult Schools. Governor Brown understands now, too. He announced his Budget Proposal in January. There is money for Adult Schools in his Budget Proposal.
The next step is the Legislature and the people will think and talk about his proposal. What is good? What could be better?
While everyone talks and thinks about the Budget for the future of Adult Schools, we need to keep our message strong:
* Adult Education Matters.
* K12 Adult Schools Matter. They are all over California. They are connected to local schools and the community. They are low-cost. They work hard to help people engage in community and economic life.
* The new Regional Consortia system needs support and good rules to make sure it is fair and functions well. The new Regional Consortia system brings Adult Schools and Community Colleges together to serve the people. This system can work if it is fair and funded.
