"How Has San Mateo Adult School Helped You" Essay Contest

Next week, March 11 - 15, is Adult Education week.

We will celebrate Adult Education.

We will celebrate the great things at our school.

We will have an essay contest.

What's an essay?

It's some writing.  You write about something.  The "something" is called the "topic."

The topic of this essay is, "How Has San Mateo Adult School Helped You?"

Do you want to enter the contest?

There will be prizes.

The winners will read their essays to other students.

If it is okay with the winners, we will post their essays here.  (Only with their permission!)

Here are the guidelines:

1.  There are 2 levels - low and high.  Your teacher will tell you which level you are in.

2.  The essay can be from 1 to 2 pages.

3.  Your teacher can help you.

4.  Deadline:  Tuesday, March 12

The "judges" are Tim Doyle, Michele Costello, and myself - Teacher Cynthia.

Next year, we will do a better job planning for this with a little more time for everone.

This year, we are a working a little fast.

Why?

Because these essays are important.

We need to make sure the everyone, including the State Legislature, knows how important Adult Education is.

We need to make sure they know Adult Education Matters!

So what do you think?

Do you want to enter?

Do you have ideas how we can make the contest better next year?

Do you have story that is important to share about your experience at San Mateo Adult School?

How has SMAS helped you?
