Student Council Meeting Minutes, Jan 2009

Student Council Meeting Minutes
Morning/Evening – Jan. 12, 2009
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!
Account Update -- Balance is more than $10,000 in our account.

Old Business:
1. Second Harvest Food Drive:
We took in more than 1,000 pounds of donated food last month for the poor and the homeless – 1,125 pounds to be exact.
Thank you for your generosity!

2. San Mateo Adult School Cookbooks (Vol. 1):
Sales were brisk and the recipes delicious. Thanks to all who participated. We sold 60 cookbooks combined in the morning and evening – for a cool $300 profit for our student government fund.
Note: Cookbooks are still on sale in the Smart Center at the front desk.

New/Ongoing Business:
1. Mr. Fred has researched some colored concrete bench options ranging from $500 to $700 per bench, plus around $600-$700 for shipping from the Midwestern U.S. Total cost for four benches –
approximately $3,000-$3,200. Other options to be studied:
Black steel benches similar to the ones we already have;
and getting prices from local suppliers.

2. A Wells Fargo Bank representative met with the morning and evening student councils and was asked about the bank’s
financial support of local schools. Our school might apply
for a bank donation – thanks to this student request!

3. Many thanks to Gil Gonzalez and Vinicios Silva for serving as student officers last semester. Gil and Vinicios have moved,
and replacements for them are being sought.
